We all say it. It’s the age old cliche that rings true. Time goes so fast as a parent. It drags in the moments we are tired, worn out and have 101 things to juggle and tick off our forever ending admin lists. Sometimes we wish life could slow down or even press pause to breathe and take in what’s around us. Our lives are fast paced, chaotic and stressful, but in-between these times are the magic of the little people that we made. The laughter the tantrums, the little quirks and manerisms that change with age.

I know myself as a mum of three young children I wish there was 8 days in the week and one more adult to help. I wish I took their photo more.. I wish I stopped more often and was able to just watch them. Their little quirks and mannerisms. Their little looks that make them, them before they grow and change so quickly moving into the next phase. Photos do that for me. I have photo’s hanging on my walls, not of my children sitting nicely against a back drop or smiling sweetly at the camera because that’s not them. They are moving, jumping, screaming with laughter. Muddy and wet covered in sand having dressed them in something that will look nice but then got dirty or wet 10 minutes later. Some have tear stains on their faces from falling over or a sibling argument moments earlier, but now running around loving life and laughing again. It’s the real side of childhood. The side of life that makes me smile, that makes all the chaos worthwhile.. The Side of life that makes me tired in the moment but so very happy as I look at the photos hanging on the walls that capture their little personalities. These are better than anything I can buy myself in a shop. These photos mean everything to me.

This is what I want to capture for you. The real side of your kids personalities. Images that you will look at and smile. That will bring you peace and joy. That make you stop for a moment in a busy day and take a deep breath. I have been working with kids all my life, from teaching kids sport, art or working at kids summer camps and then photographing them. I have two boys and a girl myself and know how different they can be. I can make children feel at ease and relaxed if they are shy and I can see kids personalities quickly. I can’t promise there won’t be some fart jokes along the way after all Kids will be kids.
